This event aims to foster knowledge sharing for the sustainable provision of ecosystem services in America and the Caribbean. Objectives of the Conference:

Identify valuable lessons, approaches, and methodologies from tropical agroforestry that can be applied in temperate agroforestry and vice-versa. Two days of room sessions including keynote lectures, short presentations, and plenary spaces, and one day for an exciting field trip. Hybrid format (in-person and virtual)

(Day 1 / 2) The conference will feature thematic sessions covering a wide range of topics, including:

  1. Agroforestry with perennial crops.
  2. Agroforestry with annual crops.
  3. Linear planting.
  4. Silvopastoral systems.

Roundtables/plenaries to address cross cutting themes: Education, capacity building, and dissemination; Enabling environments; Networking and communication.

18th NAAC to be held in Costa Rica

AFTA has selected The Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center (CATIE) in Turrialba, Costa Rica to host the 18th North American Agroforestry Conference. Working with CATIE will allow us to strengthen our collaborations across North America and deepen our agroforestry knowledge by learning from tropical systems. 

AFTA is considering a few different date ranges for the conference and would like input from potential conference attendees on which dates would work best. Please fill out THIS SURVEY to let us know your thoughts on conference timing. 

More information about the 18th NAAC will be announced later this year.

AFTA Host Search for NAAC 2023

The Association for Temperate Agroforestry (AFTA) is seeking proposals from organizations that would like to host the 18th North American Agroforestry Conference to be held in the year 2023. Proposals should be returned to Kevin Wolz, AFTA President (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) no later than Thursday September 1, 2022. Proposals will be accepted from AFTA members anywhere in North America. Individuals and/or organizations can register to become a member of AFTA on the AFTA website: www.aftaweb.org.
