The 2009 11th North American Agroforestry Conference: Call for Papers

The 11th North American Agroforestry Conference of the Association for Temperate Agroforestry (AFTA) will be held May 31 – June 4, 2009 at the Stoney Creek Inn and Conference Center located in Columbia, Missouri. The conference, held by the University of Missouri Center for Agroforestry (UMCA), has made a first call for papers. Abstracts for oral presentations and poster presentations must be electronically submitted by November 1st, 2008. The 2009 2nd World Congress of Agroforestry

The 2nd World Congress of Agroforestry will be held August 23rd-28th, 2009 in Nairobi, Kenya. Its theme will be “Agroforestry – The Future of Global Land Use”. The 2nd World Congress o­n Agroforestry will assess opportunities to leverage scientific agroforestry in promoting sustainable land use world wide. The Congress will be organized by ICRAF (World Agroforestry Centre) at the conference facilities of UNEP (UN Environment Programme). For more details, please see the Congress website (above).

Short Rotation Crops International Conference

The Center for Integrated Natural Resources and Agricultural Management (CINRAM) is hosting an international conference o­n short rotation crops August 18th-22nd in Bloomington, Minnesota. The goal of this conference is to initiate and provide opportunities for scientific exchange and full integration of the science and the application of producing both agricultural and forest crops for biofuels, bioenergy and bioproducts. There is a substantial global need for the development of such systems and technologies for the sustainability of short rotation crops across multiple spatial and temporal scales.
