http://www.unu.edu/env/plec/

The United Nations University’s (UNU) Project on People Land Management and Ecosystem Conservation (PLEC) promotes the concept of “agrodiversity” as a sustainable and participatory approach to protecting biodiversity and improving rural livelihoods in developing nations. PLEC defines agrodiversity as “the many ways in which farmers use the natural diversity of the environment for livelihoods, including their choice of crops and animals but also their management of land, water and biota as a whole.” The agrodiversity concept overlaps with agroforestry and covers four elements, i.e. biophysical, management, agrobiodiversity and organizational.
